If you’re anything like we are, you probably have some standard questions you ask when you get a wedding invitation in the mail. What should I wear? Where should I park? Chicken, again?? We thought we’d save you the trouble and answer all the questions we could think of that you might have:
What should I wear?
Be comfortable. Calley will be wearing a fancy white dress and Michael will be wearing a suit (not of the penguin variety). Wear what you’d normally wear to a wedding…and if you normally wear a tie to a wedding, but hate wearing one, please don’t wear a tie to our wedding :)
Where should I park?
Fox Point Lutheran Church has a large parking lot on the south side of the building. If the lot is full, you may park along Santa Monica Blvd. The Iron Horse may be slightly more of a challenge. Street parking is available, but it is somewhat limited. You may park along Florida Street or one of the side streets. There are no parking meters to plug. If street parking isn’t your thing, valet parking is available for $10 – just pull up in front of the building. You may want to also consider carpooling or making use of a Park and Ride lot if it’s logistically feasible for you.

Oh yes. Most definitely. So is the Iron Horse Hotel…except for the outside parts.
What’s for dinner?
As you’ve probably been able to tell by now from the invitations and the picture at the top of this site, our wedding is a bit on the non-traditional side. The Iron Horse will be set up with food stations and passed hors d’oeuvres. Wander throughout the hotel and sample the food that will be available. Find a spot to sit, if you’d like, and make yourself comfortable. Here’s the menu:
- Passed Hors D’oeuvres: tomato bruchetta, smoked & poached salmon reillette canape, veggie cakes, bratwurst & sauerkraut streudel (hey, we’re in Wisconsin, remember)
- Pasta Station: your choice of pasta (penne or farfalle), sauce (basil pesto or pomodoro), and toppings (tomato, english peas, basil, caramelized mushrooms, asparagus tips, zucchini, garlic, chilies, spinach, red & green peppers, sliced grilled chicken)
- Carving Station: roast pork loin with wild mushroom ragout
- Vegan Station: hummus with wheat pita
- Salad Bar: it’s a salad bar – you know what comes on that :)
Staying late? Need a snack? We’ve got you covered! Enjoy sausage & pepperoni pizza and roasted turkey deli sandwich sliders after 10.
Is there a kids’ menu?
What? Your kid doesn’t like bratwurst & sauerkraut streudel and poached salmon?? Well, fortunately for your kids, they’ll have their choice of chicken tenders, mini corn dogs, and french fries.
What’s to drink?
Miller products and house wines, along with juice, soda, and water will be provided throughout the night. If your palette requires fancier beer or mixed drinks, a cash bar will be available for you.
Are there hotels nearby if I want to spend the night?
Absolutely – the reception site has rooms conveniently located upstairs. We’ve also reserved a block of rooms at the Courtyard Marriott Milwaukee Downtown for our guests. Please see the Accommodations section for more details.
